Here are a few ways that you can help:
Join the Mailing List: Please consider
joining and contributing through the marketing-python
mailing list.
Donate to or join the PSF: By supporting
the Python Software Foundation
you can help manage and protect the Intellectual Property behind Python,
which is critical to the continued vitality of the language and associated
tools and libraries. The PSF also plans to develop a grant program to
fund portions of the further development of Python and its standard libraries.
Provide Advocacy Quotes: Your company can help
Python by contributing quotes that can be used in press releases and/or
on python.org (see top of the page and
this page of quotes). If you would
like to provide a quote, please write to python-quotes at pythonology.org.
If you might be able to convince others to provide quotes, see
these guidelines.
Write Success Stories, like these, describing how Python has been used,
particularly in larger and/or mission-critical applications. Some of
these have also been published in printed form by O'Reilly Associates. See the guide for contributors.
Write How-Tos aimed at
teaching others how Python can solve specific problems like GUI
application development, website development of various kinds,
and more specific tasks such as sending email, generating PDF documents,
interfacing with web services, and so forth. You can help by contributing
text, editing, or encouraging others to contribute.
Speak Out about Python: To your
co-workers, your boss, your friends, whenever you get the chance (without
being too obnoxious, of course!). Opportunities often arise online in discussion
groups. A great way to help is to get interesting news about Python
posted on slashdot.org.
Help with Marketing: If you're interested in helping
with marketing and public relations for Python, please contact us or join the marketing-python
mailing list. We're always looking for additions to the marketing resources page and for help in announcing new
Python releases and promoting Python-related events.
Catalog your Python Modules:
Contribute to the Python Package Index
(PyPI), an effort aimed at improving cataloging and access to the
world of open source and commercially available Python software modules.
Help improve Python:
Help make initial contact with Python easier. Installers should provide
an easier path for getting started as a new user. An optional fat
distribution could offer substantially more libraries than are included
in the current standard distribution (see the batteries
included PEP).
